TV Offer: Stacy with Simon Cowell

Whitney was about to launch a major comeback – as a judge and mentor on the US version of X Factor, Stacy Francis revealed last night.
She says the soul legend revealed her plans before the dramatic mood swing that led to the bust-up on the eve of her death.
Whitney told Stacy she was seriously considering taking Simon Cowell’s offer to join the show.
And despite their clash, Stacy believes that the star was determined to turn things around and get her career back on track.
Whitney confided in her about Cowell’s approach as the pair chatted earlier in the evening at the Tru Hollywood nightclub last Thursday.
Stacy, who is based in Los Angeles, added: “I said, ‘Oh my God, are you going to do it? You’ve got to do it!’

“She said, ‘Well, I’m certainly considering it.’ It seemed to me like she was excited about being back on television and being on such a big show.”
As Stacy gushed about her idol being an X Factor mentor, Whitney thought for a while then added: “God is so good – he’s the God of second chances.”
Stacy said she first met Whitney in 1996 when the I Will Always Love You singer and then-husband Bobby Brown turned up at New York’s Madison Square Garden to watch a gospel show she was in.
A couple of years later, in Whitney’s heyday, the star invited Stacy up on stage with her at a concert in Connecticut after seeing her appear in the Broadway musical Footloose.
Stacy said: ‘We chatted backstage at the time and it was great. She was very different then.
“She was in her prime. But it didn’t upset me that she didn’t remember me when we met again last week.
“I was just so excited that my idol was there.”
